We are human, are we not? We are as human as each other and as human as anyone else is. Others may ridicule us because of our sexuality, but when you get down to it, we walk the same Earth as they do, we breathe the same air they do, we do the same things they do in our daily lives. We are humans, just as they are, and no matter what some may say, don't let yourself forget that!
We are not superior, just as no one else is superior over us. We deserve equality because the human race is equal. Humans all differ from each other in appearance, personality, talent, voice, attitude, and so on. We've learned to accept people for their differences in skin color and gender and now we'll learn to accept people for their sexuality.
Throughout time, the minority has had to fight for their rights. The Civil War ended in 1865, with the African Americans in favor, and one hundred years later that segregation became illegal. Women gained the right to vote in 1920. Now it's time for us to make our stamp in the history books.
Recently, we've earned the right to be open about our sexuality in the military. Schools everywhere are enforcing rules to keep LGBT children safe from unfair harassment. Even the media is now showing shows, movies, and songs involving the queer society in a positive manner. Some states and countries allow gay couples to adopt children and be married. We have a good head start, and one day, we will have the right to marry and adopt all over the world!
Some may tell you that being gay is unnatural. Look at glasses, shoes, coffee tables, televisions, fans, and stuffed animals and tell me that all these things are natural.
Some say it goes against God; He loves all of his children except the queer ones. I say, where's the logic against that? If God loves all of his imperfect children, what in the world would make you think He doesn't love us because of our sexuality?
Do not forget that you are human. You are not an object or an animal. You are human, you smile, you cry, you laugh, you hide, and you love.
The last thing I'd like to say to you all is 'thank you'. Thank you for providing hope for your LGBT brothers and sisters. Thank you for standing tall when you feel small. Thank you for believing in and fighting for equality.

LGBT Interview
1. How long have you known you are part of the LGBT community?
I've been calling myself bisexual for about a year now.
2. Was it a struggle (emotionally) for you at the beginning?
A little bit, yeah. When I realized that I liked girls while still being attracted to guys, I was a little unnerved. I would think to myself "is this... normal?" Not that I was normal to start with, but I really didn't need anymore help.
3. How did you start to discover your sexuality? (Example, thoughts, feelings
ex)
It started last summer, I'd just gotten out of a nasty scrape with an older guy, and I thought to myself "I'm never going to have romantic f

LGBT who we are today
I've been called a dyke or a lesbian, more than twenty times
Those names still ring subconsciously inside my tiny ears
The ones who scream it along with my name, will never know the damage that they've caused
It is an issue when you no longer want to be you
That stage hasn't started, but I'm sure it's not too far
People who are cruel don't even know my secrets
They guess at who I am but they will never know
Since when have they taken the time to try and know my real identity?
Bisexual, Pansexual, Transgender or gay
In the end it doesn't matter,
As long as they think I am different!
Normal is a word they try to use,

gay American
I am gay. I am an American. I contributed to President Obama's campaign, I get emails from him everyday, telling me what he is doing, how he is changing the world. How much better things are going to be for us all. But he never mentions me, or the millions like me.
I read in the morning paper that a man's property taxes went up from $1700 per year to over $10,000 a year. Just because his partner of 37 years passed away. Because they did not share the same rights that straight people enjoy. He is something less than an American. He is a gay American. Not even capitalized. Something to be loathed, laughed at, put down, beat up, picked
